STORY: Jass (Gippy Grewal) meets Meet (Sonam Bajwa) at a wedding, and it is love at first sight for him. To please his father, advocate Dhillon, Jass (Jaswinder Bhalla) decides to marry Meet. But before the two parties can meet, Dhillon has already picked up a fight with Meet’s uncle, Dilawer (Nasir Chinyoti). To get both sides of families to agree, Jass hatches an absurd plan involving his friends, Honey (Gurpreet Ghuggi), Goldie (Binnu Dhillon), his wife (Kavita Kaushik), and their son (Shinda Grewal). This sets of a series of ludicrous situations, ending in the families agreeing and all chaos clearing up.
REVIEW: Carry On Jatta 3 is as mad as its predecessors, except by the third film, the audience is already aware of the characters and knows how this comedy will end- in a wildly hilarious chase. By playing the effervescent Jass, Gippy Grewal has kept the freshness of youth alive. Going through the situations, Gippy is doing a fare job of keeping the humour afloat, even though the plot is a little predictable.
As the story creates intricacies from the plots devised by Jass along with his friend Honey, the veteran comedians Gurpreet Ghuggi and Jaswinder Bhalla carry the onus of laughs with their spoofy dialogues and whimsical mannerisms. The new characters, played by Kavita Kaushik and Gippy’s real life son, Shinda Grewal infuse an originality hitherto unseen in Punjabi films. Kavita, unlike her firebrand TV persona in the show F.I.R, is playing a coy housewife who agrees to help her husband’s friend get the woman of his dreams while Shinda plays the smart kid of Gen Alpha with relative ease.
Sonam Bajwa has been glamourized in this film, a refreshing change from her traditional avatars in her recent outings. In a la Bollywood masala films, Sonam’s character, though without much to contribute to the script, provided a visual treat in glamorous modern dresses she sports in the songs.
Karamjit Anmol, Gippy’s uncle in the film, has done a credible job with his desi Brit accent, in playing a dumbed down character. Dialogue writer, Naresh Kathooria makes a cameo appearance as Binnu Dhillon’s brother-in-law, in his signature style.
The climax, however, belongs to Binnu Dhillon, who takes the brunt of all chaos emerging from the plotting by Jass and Honey, even though he plays the most levelheaded character. The famous chase in the end, is also led by Binnu, and followed by the entire star cast in the manner similar of both previous films in Carry On Jatta franchise.
